Ingredients

  • Chhena (fresh paneer) - 200 grams
  • Jaggery (grated) - 100 grams
  • Cardamom powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Ghee (clarified butter) - 2 tablespoons
  • Chopped nuts (cashews and almonds) - 2 tablespoons
  • Saffron strands - a pinch
  • Water - 2 tablespoons

Steps

  1. In a pan, heat the ghee over medium heat and add the grated jaggery and water, stirring until the jaggery dissolves completely.
  2. Once the jaggery syrup is ready, add the chhena and mix well until it absorbs the syrup.
  3. Add the cardamom powder and saffron strands, stirring continuously for about 5-7 minutes until the mixture thickens and starts to leave the sides of the pan.
  4. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly. Then, add the chopped nuts and mix well.
  5. Grease a plate or tray with a little ghee and spread the chhena mixture evenly on it, pressing it down firmly.
  6. Let it set for about 15-20 minutes, then cut into small squares or diamond shapes.
  7. Serve warm or at room temperature.
