Ingredients
- Chhena (fresh paneer) - 200 grams
- Jaggery (grated) - 100 grams
- Cardamom powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Ghee (clarified butter) - 2 tablespoons
- Chopped nuts (cashews and almonds) - 2 tablespoons
- Saffron strands - a pinch
- Water - 2 tablespoons
Steps
- In a pan, heat the ghee over medium heat and add the grated jaggery and water, stirring until the jaggery dissolves completely.
- Once the jaggery syrup is ready, add the chhena and mix well until it absorbs the syrup.
- Add the cardamom powder and saffron strands, stirring continuously for about 5-7 minutes until the mixture thickens and starts to leave the sides of the pan.
- Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly. Then, add the chopped nuts and mix well.
- Grease a plate or tray with a little ghee and spread the chhena mixture evenly on it, pressing it down firmly.
- Let it set for about 15-20 minutes, then cut into small squares or diamond shapes.
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
