Ingredients

  • Roasted rice flour - 100 grams
  • Jaggery - 80 grams, grated
  • Coconut milk - 200 ml
  • Water - 100 ml
  • Cardamom powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Salt - a pinch
  • Chopped nuts (cashews and almonds) - 2 tablespoons
  • Grated fresh coconut - 2 tablespoons

Steps

  1. In a saucepan, combine the jaggery and water, and heat over medium heat until the jaggery dissolves completely.
  2. Add the coconut milk to the jaggery mixture and stir well.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the roasted rice flour, cardamom powder, and a pinch of salt.
  4. Gradually add the rice flour mixture to the saucepan, stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
  5. Cook the mixture on low heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens and starts to come away from the sides of the pan (about 10-15 minutes).
  6. Once thickened, remove from heat and fold in the chopped nuts and grated fresh coconut.
  7. Transfer the kharwa to a serving dish and let it cool slightly before serving.
