Ingredients
- Besan (gram flour) - 100 grams
- Ghee (clarified butter) - 75 grams
- Sugar - 100 grams
- Water - 50 ml
- Cardamom powder - 1/4 teaspoon
- Chopped nuts (cashews and almonds) - 20 grams
Steps
- In a heavy-bottomed pan, heat 50 grams of ghee on low flame.
- Add the besan to the ghee and roast it, stirring continuously until it turns golden brown and releases a nutty aroma (about 10 minutes).
- In another pan, combine sugar and water, and heat until the sugar dissolves completely to form a syrup.
- Once the sugar syrup reaches a one-string consistency, add the roasted besan and mix well.
- Stir in the remaining ghee and cardamom powder, mixing until the mixture starts to leave the sides of the pan.
- Pour the mixture into a greased plate and flatten it evenly using a spatula.
- Sprinkle the chopped nuts on top and press them lightly into the mixture.
- Allow it to cool for 15-20 minutes before cutting into pieces.
