Ingredients

  • Besan (gram flour) - 100 grams
  • Ghee (clarified butter) - 75 grams
  • Sugar - 100 grams
  • Water - 50 ml
  • Cardamom powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Chopped nuts (cashews and almonds) - 20 grams

Steps

  1. In a heavy-bottomed pan, heat 50 grams of ghee on low flame.
  2. Add the besan to the ghee and roast it, stirring continuously until it turns golden brown and releases a nutty aroma (about 10 minutes).
  3. In another pan, combine sugar and water, and heat until the sugar dissolves completely to form a syrup.
  4. Once the sugar syrup reaches a one-string consistency, add the roasted besan and mix well.
  5. Stir in the remaining ghee and cardamom powder, mixing until the mixture starts to leave the sides of the pan.
  6. Pour the mixture into a greased plate and flatten it evenly using a spatula.
  7. Sprinkle the chopped nuts on top and press them lightly into the mixture.
  8. Allow it to cool for 15-20 minutes before cutting into pieces.
