Ingredients

  • Fish fillets (preferably tilapia or cod) - 300 grams
  • Rice flour - 4 tablespoons
  • Besan (gram flour) - 2 tablespoons
  • Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Fresh coriander leaves (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
  • Oil for frying - 100 ml

Steps

  1. Rinse the fish fillets under cold water and pat them dry with a paper towel.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine rice flour, besan, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt.
  3. Add lemon juice and mix well to form a smooth paste. If needed, add a little water to achieve a batter-like consistency.
  4. Coat each fish fillet with the spice mixture, ensuring an even layer on both sides. Let it marinate for 15 minutes.
  5. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, gently place the marinated fish fillets in the oil.
  6. Fry the fish for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Remove the fish from the pan and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
  8. Garnish with chopped fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with lemon wedges.
