Ingredients

  • Prawns - 250 grams, peeled and deveined
  • Coconut oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 inch, grated
  • Tomato - 1 medium, chopped
  • Green chili - 1, slit
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Fresh cilantro - a handful, chopped for garnish

Steps

  1. Heat the coconut oil in a pan over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger, and sauté for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Add the chopped tomato and green chili, cooking until the tomato softens.
  5. Sprinkle in the turmeric, red chili, coriander, and cumin powders, and mix well, cooking for another minute.
  6. Add the prawns and stir to coat them in the spice mixture. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the prawns turn pink and are cooked through.
  7. Season with salt to taste, and sprinkle garam masala on top, mixing well.
  8. Remove from heat and garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
