Ingredients

  • Prawns - 300 grams, peeled and deveined
  • Bell pepper (capsicum) - 1 medium, diced
  • Tomatoes - 2 medium, pureed
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Ginger-garlic paste - 1 tablespoon
  • Coconut oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Kashmiri red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Fresh cilantro - for garnish

Steps

  1. Heat coconut oil in a kadai or deep skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add chopped onions and sauté until they turn translucent.
  3. Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for another minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the pureed tomatoes, salt, turmeric, and Kashmiri red chili powder. Cook until the oil separates from the mixture, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Mix in the diced bell peppers and cook for another 3-4 minutes until they are slightly softened.
  6. Add the prawns to the kadai, stirring to coat them in the sauce. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the prawns turn pink and are cooked through.
  7. Sprinkle the coriander powder and garam masala over the dish, stirring well to combine. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  8. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
