Ingredients

  • Green gram (mung beans) - 150 grams
  • Water - 500 ml
  • Ginger paste - 1 teaspoon
  • Green chili - 1, finely chopped
  • Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Coconut oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Lettuce leaves - 4 large
  • Tomato - 1, sliced
  • Cucumber - 1/2, sliced
  • Red onion - 1/2, sliced
  • Cilantro chutney - 4 tablespoons
  • Avocado - 1, sliced

Steps

  1. Soak the mung beans in water for at least 4 hours or overnight to soften.
  2. Drain the soaked mung beans and blend them with water, ginger paste, green chili, cumin seeds, and salt to form a smooth batter.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon of coconut oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  4. Pour a ladleful of the batter onto the skillet and spread it into a round patty shape. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown. Repeat for the remaining batter, adding more oil as needed.
  5. Once the patties are cooked, assemble the burgers by placing a mung bean patty on a lettuce leaf, followed by slices of tomato, cucumber, red onion, and avocado.
  6. Top with cilantro chutney and another lettuce leaf to complete the burger.
