Ingredients
- Moong dal (split yellow mung beans) - 100g
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Tomato - 1 medium, pureed
- Ginger-garlic paste - 1 tablespoon
- Green chilies - 1, slit
- Coconut oil - 2 tablespoons
- Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
- Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Cilantro - for garnish
- Lemon - 1, cut into wedges
- Keto bread or coconut flour bread - 2 slices
Steps
- Rinse the moong dal under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak it in water for about 30 minutes, then drain.
- In a pressure cooker, heat coconut oil over medium heat. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter, then add cumin seeds.
- Add finely chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown. Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and green chilies, cooking for another minute.
- Add the pureed tomato, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook until the oil separates from the mixture.
- Add the soaked moong dal and 2 cups of water to the cooker. Close the lid and cook for 3 whistles on medium heat. Allow the pressure to release naturally.
- Once the dal is cooked, open the lid and add garam masala. Mix well and adjust salt if needed. Let it simmer for another 5 minutes.
- While the curry simmers, toast the keto bread slices in a pan until golden brown.
- Serve the Misal hot, garnished with cilantro and lemon wedges on the side, alongside the toasted keto bread.
