Ingredients

  • Raw papaya - 200 grams, grated
  • Khar (alkaline ingredient) - 1 teaspoon
  • Coconut oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Green chili - 1, slit
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Fresh coriander leaves - for garnish

Steps

  1. Heat coconut oil in a pan over medium heat.
  2. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  3. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic and green chili; cook for another minute.
  5. Add grated raw papaya and turmeric powder, and mix well.
  6. Cover and cook for about 10 minutes until the papaya softens.
  7. Add the khar and salt; stir well and cook for another 5 minutes.
  8. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
