Ingredients

  • Besan (chickpea flour) - 100g
  • Yogurt (unsweetened) - 50g
  • Water - 100ml
  • Baking soda - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt - 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Ginger paste - 1 tsp
  • Green chili (finely chopped) - 1 (optional)
  • Oil - 1 tbsp (for greasing)
  • Pizza sauce - 4 tbsp (low-carb, sugar-free)
  • Mozzarella cheese (shredded) - 100g
  • Bell peppers (diced) - 50g
  • Onion (finely chopped) - 50g
  • Black olives (sliced) - 20g
  • Oregano - 1/2 tsp
  • Fresh basil leaves - for garnish

Steps

  1. In a bowl, mix besan, yogurt, water, baking soda, salt, turmeric powder, ginger paste, and green chili until smooth to create a batter.
  2. Grease a round cake pan with oil and pour the batter into it, spreading evenly.
  3. Steam the batter in a steamer or a large pot with water for about 15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  4. Once steamed, let it cool slightly and then cut the dhokla into pizza-like wedges.
  5. Preheat your oven to 200°C (392°F).
  6. Place the dhokla wedges on a baking tray and spread pizza sauce over each piece.
  7. Top with shredded mozzarella cheese, diced bell peppers, chopped onions, and sliced black olives.
  8. Sprinkle oregano over the top and bake for 10-12 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh basil leaves, and serve hot.
