- Almond flour - 50 grams
- Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Water - 150 ml
- Coconut oil - 1 tablespoon (for greasing)
- Cabbage - 50 grams (finely chopped)
- Carrot - 30 grams (grated)
- Green chili - 1 (finely chopped)
- Coriander leaves - 2 tablespoons (chopped)
- Cheese slice - 2 (optional)
- Lettuce leaves - 2
- Tomato - 1 (sliced)
- Onion - 1 small (sliced)
- Mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons (optional, for topping)
- Mustard - 1 tablespoon (optional, for topping)
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine chickpea flour, almond flour, baking powder, turmeric powder, and salt.
- Gradually add water to the dry ingredients, whisking until you achieve a smooth batter.
- Fold in the chopped cabbage, grated carrot, green chili, and coriander leaves into the batter.
- Grease a steaming tray or a round cake pan with coconut oil, then pour the batter into it, spreading it evenly.
- Steam the batter for about 15-20 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Once cooked, let the dhokla cool for a few minutes before cutting it into round burger patties.
- In a skillet, lightly toast the dhokla patties for a couple of minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a dhokla patty on a lettuce leaf, topped with a slice of cheese, tomato, onion, and a drizzle of mayonnaise and mustard if desired.
- Cover with another lettuce leaf and serve immediately.
