Ingredients

  • Canned chickpeas - 200 grams, drained and rinsed
  • Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Green chili - 1, finely chopped (optional)
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Almond flour - 2 tablespoons
  • Egg - 1, lightly beaten
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons (for frying)
  • Lettuce leaves - 4 large (for wrapping)
  • Tomato - 1, sliced
  • Avocado - 1, sliced

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, mash the drained chickpeas with a fork or potato masher until semi-smooth.
  2. Add chopped onion, garlic, ginger, green chili, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala, salt, cilantro, almond flour, and beaten egg to the mashed chickpeas. Mix well to combine.
  3. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties.
  4. Heat olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Remove the patties from the pan and let them drain on a paper towel.
  6. To assemble the burgers, take a large lettuce leaf, place a chickpea patty on it, and top with tomato and avocado slices.
  7. Wrap the lettuce around the patty and serve immediately.
