Ingredients

  • Chickpeas - 200g (cooked and drained)
  • Coconut oil - 2 tbsp
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Tomato - 1 medium, pureed
  • Ginger-garlic paste - 1 tsp
  • Green chili - 1, slit
  • Cumin powder - 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder - 1 tsp
  • Garam masala - 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt - to taste
  • Fresh cilantro - for garnish
  • Almond flour - 100g
  • Psyllium husk - 2 tbsp
  • Baking powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Warm water - as needed
  • Yogurt - 2 tbsp (for serving)

Steps

  1. In a pan, heat coconut oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
  2. Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and green chili, cooking for another minute until fragrant.
  3. Add the pureed tomato, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Cook until the oil separates from the mixture.
  4. Add the cooked chickpeas and mix well. Pour in a little water if needed to adjust the consistency. Simmer for 5-7 minutes until the chickpeas are well coated with the spices.
  5. Remove from heat, sprinkle garam masala, and garnish with fresh cilantro.
  6. In a bowl, combine almond flour, psyllium husk, baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Mix well.
  7. Gradually add warm water and knead until a smooth dough forms. Let it rest for 10 minutes.
  8. Divide the dough into 2 equal portions and roll each portion into a ball.
  9. Flatten each ball into a round shape, about 1/4 inch thick.
  10. In a pan, heat coconut oil for frying. Once hot, carefully place the rolled bhature into the oil.
  11. Fry until golden brown on both sides, then remove and drain on paper towels.
  12. Serve the chickpeas hot with the bhature and a side of yogurt.
