Ingredients

  • Cabbage - 300 grams, shredded
  • Coconut oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Ginger - 1 inch, grated
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Green chili - 1, slit
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Cilantro - for garnish, chopped
  • Water - 100 ml

Steps

  1. Heat the coconut oil in a large pan over medium heat.
  2. Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds, and sauté until they start to splutter.
  3. Add the grated ginger, minced garlic, and slit green chili; sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Stir in the turmeric powder, coriander powder, and salt, mixing well.
  5. Add the shredded cabbage to the pan and stir to coat in the spices.
  6. Pour in the water, cover the pan, and let it cook for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender.
  7. Remove the lid, add garam masala, and cook for an additional 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  8. Garnish with chopped cilantro before serving.
