Ingredients

  • Okra - 200 grams
  • Almond flour - 100 grams
  • Egg - 1 large
  • Cheddar cheese (shredded) - 50 grams
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons (for frying)
  • Lettuce leaves - 2 large
  • Sliced tomato - 1 medium
  • Sliced onion - 1 small
  • Mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons (optional for serving)

Steps

  1. Wash and dry the okra, then slice them into thin rounds.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the sliced okra, cumin powder, garam masala, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to coat the okra evenly with spices.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the spiced okra and sauté until they are crispy and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
  4. In another bowl, mix almond flour, egg, and shredded cheddar cheese to form a dough. Ensure it is well combined.
  5. Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and shape them into burger patties.
  6. Heat the remaining olive oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat. Cook the almond flour patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and firm.
  7. To assemble the burgers, place a lettuce leaf on the bottom, then add a patty, followed by a generous portion of crispy okra, sliced tomato, and onion. Top with another lettuce leaf and serve with mayonnaise if desired.
