Kesar Peda

Kesar Peda is a rich and aromatic Indian dessert made from khoya, flavored with saffron and cardamom. These soft, melt-in-your-mouth pedas are perfect for celebrating special occasions or indulging in a sweet treat.

Ingredients

  • Khoya - 100 grams
  • Sugar - 50 grams
  • Saffron strands - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Cardamom powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Ghee (clarified butter) - 1 tablespoon
  • Chopped nuts (pistachios and almonds) - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Heat the ghee in a non-stick pan over low heat.
  2. Add the khoya and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring continuously until it softens.
  3. Dissolve the saffron strands in 1 tablespoon of warm milk and add it to the khoya.
  4. Add the sugar and cardamom powder to the khoya mixture, stirring well until the sugar dissolves completely.
  5. Cook the mixture for another 5-7 minutes until it thickens and starts to leave the sides of the pan.
  6. Remove from heat and allow it to cool slightly.
  7. Once cool enough to handle, grease your palms with ghee and shape the mixture into small round balls or discs.
  8. Garnish each peda with a sprinkle of chopped nuts.
  9. Let them cool completely before serving.
