- Ground lamb or beef - 250 grams
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Tomato - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Ginger-garlic paste - 1 tablespoon
- Green chili - 1, finely chopped
- Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Garam masala - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Oil - 2 tablespoons
- Pav (Indian bread rolls) - 2
- Butter - 1 tablespoon (for toasting buns)
- Lettuce leaves - 2
- Sliced onion - 2 slices
- Sliced tomato - 2 slices
- Cheese slice - 2 (optional)
Steps
- Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and green chili, cooking for another minute until fragrant.
- Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the ground meat to the pan and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.
- Stir in the garam masala, cumin powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook for another 5-7 minutes until the meat is well cooked and flavors meld together.
- Remove from heat and stir in the chopped cilantro. Set aside.
- In another pan, melt 1 tablespoon of butter and toast the pav until golden brown on both sides.
- Assemble the burger by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of the toasted pav, followed by a generous portion of keema, a slice of onion, a slice of tomato, and a cheese slice if using. Top with the other half of the pav.
- Serve immediately with a side of chutney or ketchup.
