  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Tomato - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Ginger-garlic paste - 1 tablespoon
  • Green chili - 1, finely chopped
  • Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Garam masala - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Pav (Indian bread rolls) - 2
  • Butter - 1 tablespoon (for toasting buns)
  • Lettuce leaves - 2
  • Sliced onion - 2 slices
  • Sliced tomato - 2 slices
  • Cheese slice - 2 (optional)

Steps

  1. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  2. Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and green chili, cooking for another minute until fragrant.
  3. Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add the ground meat to the pan and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.
  5. Stir in the garam masala, cumin powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook for another 5-7 minutes until the meat is well cooked and flavors meld together.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in the chopped cilantro. Set aside.
  7. In another pan, melt 1 tablespoon of butter and toast the pav until golden brown on both sides.
  8. Assemble the burger by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of the toasted pav, followed by a generous portion of keema, a slice of onion, a slice of tomato, and a cheese slice if using. Top with the other half of the pav.
  9. Serve immediately with a side of chutney or ketchup.
