Ingredients

  • Chickpeas - 200 grams (cooked)
  • Potato - 100 grams (boiled and mashed)
  • Red onion - 1 small (finely chopped)
  • Fresh coriander leaves - 2 tablespoons (chopped)
  • Garam masala - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Red chili powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Breadcrumbs - 1/4 cup
  • Oil - for shallow frying
  • Burger buns - 2
  • Mint chutney - 2 tablespoons
  • Tomato - 1 (sliced)
  • Lettuce leaves - 2

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked chickpeas and boiled potato. Mash them together until smooth.
  2. Add the chopped red onion, coriander leaves, garam masala, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.
  3. Gradually add breadcrumbs to the mixture until it holds together well. Form the mixture into two patties.
  4. Heat oil in a non-stick frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the patties in the pan and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
  5. While the patties are cooking, toast the burger buns lightly on another pan or in a toaster.
  6. Assemble the burger by spreading mint chutney on the bottom half of the bun, placing the lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked patty, and then topping it with sliced tomatoes.
  7. Cover with the top half of the bun and serve immediately.
