- Bread - 4 slices (preferably white or milk bread)
- Ghee - 4 tablespoons
- Milk - 500 ml
- Sugar - 100 grams
- Cardamom powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Saffron strands - a pinch
- Chopped mixed nuts (almonds, pistachios) - 2 tablespoons
- Rose water - 1 teaspoon
- Pistachio slivers - for garnish
Steps
- Heat the ghee in a pan over medium heat. Once hot, fry the bread slices until they turn golden brown and crispy on both sides. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- In a separate pot, bring the milk to a boil. Add sugar, cardamom powder, and saffron strands, stirring continuously until the sugar dissolves.
- Reduce the heat and let the milk simmer for about 10-15 minutes until it thickens slightly.
- Add rose water to the milk mixture and stir well. Remove from heat.
- Place the fried bread slices in a serving dish and pour the warm milk mixture over them, allowing the bread to soak for a few minutes.
- Garnish with chopped mixed nuts and pistachio slivers before serving.
