Ingredients

  • Bread - 4 slices (preferably white or milk bread)
  • Ghee - 4 tablespoons
  • Milk - 500 ml
  • Sugar - 100 grams
  • Cardamom powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Saffron strands - a pinch
  • Chopped mixed nuts (almonds, pistachios) - 2 tablespoons
  • Rose water - 1 teaspoon
  • Pistachio slivers - for garnish

Steps

  1. Heat the ghee in a pan over medium heat. Once hot, fry the bread slices until they turn golden brown and crispy on both sides. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  2. In a separate pot, bring the milk to a boil. Add sugar, cardamom powder, and saffron strands, stirring continuously until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Reduce the heat and let the milk simmer for about 10-15 minutes until it thickens slightly.
  4. Add rose water to the milk mixture and stir well. Remove from heat.
  5. Place the fried bread slices in a serving dish and pour the warm milk mixture over them, allowing the bread to soak for a few minutes.
  6. Garnish with chopped mixed nuts and pistachio slivers before serving.
