- Paneer - 200 grams
- Yogurt - 100 grams
- Onion - 1 medium, finely sliced
- Ginger paste - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic paste - 1 teaspoon
- Green chilies - 2, slit
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
- Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
- Saffron strands - a pinch
- Cumin seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cooking oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves - for garnish
Steps
- Heat the cooking oil in a pan over medium heat and add cumin seeds; sauté until they splutter.
- Add the sliced onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
- Stir in the ginger and garlic paste, and cook for 2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the green chilies, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt; cook for another 2 minutes.
- Lower the heat and add the yogurt gradually, stirring continuously to avoid curdling.
- Once the yogurt is well incorporated, add the saffron strands soaked in a tablespoon of warm water.
- Add the paneer cubes to the pan, gently mixing them into the sauce.
- Cover and let it simmer for 10 minutes on low heat, allowing the flavors to meld.
- Sprinkle garam masala on top, mix gently, and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with naan or rice.
