Ingredients

  • Jowar flour - 1 cup
  • Wheat flour - 1/4 cup
  • Rice flour - 1/4 cup
  • Boiled potato - 1 medium, mashed
  • Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
  • Green chili - 1, finely chopped
  • Coriander leaves - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Water - as needed
  • Oil - for cooking

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine jowar flour, wheat flour, rice flour, mashed potato, chopped onion, green chili, coriander leaves, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, and salt.
  2. Gradually add water to the mixture and knead it into a soft and pliable dough.
  3. Divide the dough into equal portions and shape them into balls.
  4. On a flat surface, place a ball of dough and flatten it using your fingers or a rolling pin into a round disc, about 1/4 inch thick.
  5. Heat a tawa or non-stick skillet on medium heat and grease it lightly with oil.
  6. Cook the thalipeeth on the hot skillet for about 2-3 minutes on one side, until golden brown, then flip it over and cook the other side for another 2-3 minutes, adding more oil as needed.
  7. Remove the thalipeeth from the skillet and repeat with the remaining dough.
  8. Serve hot with yogurt or chutney.
