Ingredients

  • Plain yogurt - 200 grams
  • Cucumber - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Tomato - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Carrot - 1 small, grated
  • Green chili - 1, finely chopped (adjust to taste)
  • Coriander leaves - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Cumin powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Oil - 1 teaspoon

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk the plain yogurt until smooth and creamy.
  2. Add the finely chopped cucumber, tomato, grated carrot, chopped green chili, and chopped coriander leaves to the yogurt.
  3. Sprinkle in the cumin powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to combine all the ingredients.
  4. In a small pan, heat 1 teaspoon of oil over medium heat. Add the mustard seeds and let them splutter.
  5. Pour the tempering (mustard seeds and oil) over the raita mixture and gently stir to incorporate.
  6. Serve the Karnataka Raita chilled, garnished with extra coriander leaves if desired.
