- Plain yogurt - 200 grams
- Cucumber - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Tomato - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Carrot - 1 small, grated
- Green chili - 1, finely chopped (adjust to taste)
- Coriander leaves - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Cumin powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Mustard seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
- Oil - 1 teaspoon
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, whisk the plain yogurt until smooth and creamy.
- Add the finely chopped cucumber, tomato, grated carrot, chopped green chili, and chopped coriander leaves to the yogurt.
- Sprinkle in the cumin powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to combine all the ingredients.
- In a small pan, heat 1 teaspoon of oil over medium heat. Add the mustard seeds and let them splutter.
- Pour the tempering (mustard seeds and oil) over the raita mixture and gently stir to incorporate.
- Serve the Karnataka Raita chilled, garnished with extra coriander leaves if desired.
