Ingredients

  • Chickpea flour (besan) - 100 grams
  • Jaggery (grated) - 50 grams
  • Coconut oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Cardamom powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Chopped nuts (almonds and pistachios) - 2 tablespoons
  • Water - 150 ml
  • Salt - a pinch

Steps

  1. In a non-stick pan, heat the coconut oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the chickpea flour and roast it, stirring continuously, until it turns golden brown and emits a nutty aroma, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. In a separate saucepan, add the grated jaggery and water. Heat until the jaggery completely dissolves and forms a syrup, about 5 minutes.
  4. Once the jaggery syrup is ready, pour it into the roasted chickpea flour mixture, stirring continuously to combine.
  5. Add the cardamom powder and salt, and mix well until the mixture thickens and leaves the sides of the pan, about 5 more minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly. Transfer the mixture to a greased plate or tray and spread it evenly.
  7. Sprinkle the chopped nuts on top and press them lightly into the surface.
  8. Allow it to cool completely, then cut into squares or desired shapes. Serve at room temperature.
