- Rice flour - 1 cup
- Split urad dal (black gram) flour - 1/4 cup
- Water - 1 1/2 cups
- Salt - 1 tsp
- Curry leaves - 10 leaves, chopped
- Green chilies - 1, finely chopped
- Ginger - 1 tsp, grated
- Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
- Asafoetida (hing) - a pinch
- Oil - for cooking
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine rice flour, urad dal flour, and salt.
- Gradually add water to the flour mixture, stirring until you achieve a smooth batter.
- In a small pan, heat 1 tsp of oil and add mustard seeds, letting them splutter.
- Add chopped green chilies, grated ginger, curry leaves, and asafoetida to the pan and sauté for 1-2 minutes.
- Pour the tempered mixture into the dosa batter and mix well.
- Heat a non-stick skillet or tawa over medium heat and lightly grease it with oil.
- Pour a ladleful of batter onto the skillet, spreading it evenly in a circular motion to form a thin dosa.
- Drizzle a little oil around the edges and cook for 3-4 minutes until the dosa is crispy and golden brown.
- Flip the dosa and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes on the other side.
- Repeat the process with the remaining batter to make additional dosas.
