Ingredients

  • Plain yogurt - 400 grams
  • Besan (gram flour) - 2 tablespoons
  • Water - 500 ml
  • Paneer - 150 grams, cubed
  • Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Curry leaves - 8-10 leaves
  • Cilantro (coriander leaves) - for garnish
  • Oil - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the yogurt, besan, and water until smooth. Set aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds, and let them splutter.
  3. Add curry leaves and sauté for a few seconds until fragrant.
  4. Pour the yogurt mixture into the pan and stir continuously to avoid lumps. Cook for 10-15 minutes until the mixture thickens.
  5. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well and let it simmer for another 5 minutes.
  6. Gently add the cubed paneer and garam masala to the kadhi. Stir to coat the paneer with the sauce and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  7. Remove from heat and garnish with chopped cilantro before serving.
