- Yogurt - 150 grams
- Besan (chickpea flour) - 2 tablespoons
- Water - 500 ml
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Red chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Cumin seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
- Mustard seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
- Curry leaves - 6-8 leaves
- Ginger - 1 inch, grated
- Salt - to taste
- Cilantro (coriander leaves) - for garnish
- Cooked rice - 100 grams
Steps
- In a bowl, whisk the yogurt and besan together until smooth, then gradually add 500 ml of water, mixing well to avoid lumps.
- In a pot, heat 1 tablespoon of oil over medium heat and add cumin seeds and mustard seeds; let them splutter.
- Add the grated ginger, curry leaves, turmeric powder, and red chili powder, and sauté for a minute until fragrant.
- Pour in the yogurt-besan mixture, stir continuously, and bring it to a gentle boil. Reduce heat and simmer for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add salt to taste and adjust the consistency by adding more water if needed.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh cilantro, alongside cooked rice.
