Ingredients

  • Firm Tofu - 250 grams, cubed
  • Bell Pepper (Red) - 1 medium, sliced
  • Bell Pepper (Green) - 1 medium, sliced
  • Onion - 1 medium, sliced
  • Tomato - 1 medium, chopped
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 inch, minced
  • Green Chilies - 1-2, slit
  • Cumin Seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander Powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Garam Masala - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric Powder - ½ teaspoon
  • Red Chili Powder - ½ teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Oil (Coconut or Vegetable) - 2 tablespoons
  • Fresh Coriander - for garnish

Steps

  1. Press the tofu to remove excess moisture, then cut it into cubes.
  2. In a bowl, marinate the tofu cubes with turmeric powder, red chili powder, and a pinch of salt for 10 minutes.
  3. Heat oil in a kadai or wok over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle.
  4. Add minced garlic, ginger, and green chilies, and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  5. Add the sliced onions and stir-fry until they become translucent.
  6. Add the marinated tofu to the pan and cook for 5-7 minutes, gently stirring to prevent sticking.
  7. Add the sliced bell peppers and chopped tomato. Cook for another 5 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
  8. Sprinkle coriander powder and garam masala over the stir-fry, and mix well. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  9. Season with salt to taste, and garnish with fresh coriander before serving.
