Ingredients

  • Potatoes - 300 grams (peeled and boiled)
  • Green peas - 100 grams (boiled)
  • Carrot - 1 medium (grated)
  • Onion - 1 small (finely chopped)
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon (grated)
  • Green chili - 1 (finely chopped)
  • Coriander leaves - 2 tablespoons (chopped)
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Red chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Rice flour - 2 tablespoons (for binding)
  • Oil - for shallow frying

Steps

  1. In a large bowl, mash the boiled potatoes thoroughly until smooth.
  2. Add the boiled green peas, grated carrot, chopped onion, ginger, green chili, and coriander leaves to the mashed potatoes.
  3. Mix in the cumin powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.
  4. Add the rice flour to the mixture to help bind the ingredients together. Mix until well incorporated.
  5. Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape each portion into round patties (tikkis).
  6. Heat oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the tikkis in the pan.
  7. Fry the tikkis for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they turn golden brown and crispy.
  8. Remove the tikkis from the pan and place them on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
  9. Serve hot with green chutney or yogurt dip.
