- Prawns (deveined) - 300 grams
- Onion (finely chopped) - 1 medium
- Tomato (pureed) - 1 medium
- Green bell pepper (sliced) - 1 medium
- Ginger-garlic paste - 1 tablespoon
- Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
- Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
- Fresh cilantro (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Oil (vegetable or coconut) - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - to taste
Steps
- Heat the oil in a kadai or wok over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add the chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
- Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and cook for another 1-2 minutes until the raw smell disappears.
- Add the pureed tomato and cook until the oil separates from the mixture, about 5-7 minutes.
- Mix in the coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook for 2 minutes.
- Add the sliced green bell pepper and cook for another 3-4 minutes, until they are slightly tender.
- Add the prawns to the kadai and stir well. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the prawns turn pink and are cooked through.
- Sprinkle garam masala and lemon juice over the prawns, and mix well.
- Remove from heat and garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
