Ingredients

  • Prawns - 300 grams, deveined
  • Bell Pepper - 1 medium, diced
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Tomato - 1 medium, pureed
  • Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
  • Garlic - 1 tablespoon, minced
  • Green Chili - 1, slit
  • Cumin Seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander Powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Garam Masala - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Fresh Coriander - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Coconut Oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt - to taste
  • Water - 1/2 cup

Steps

  1. Heat coconut oil in a kadai or heavy-bottomed pan over medium heat.
  2. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter for a few seconds.
  3. Add finely chopped onion and sauté until it turns golden brown.
  4. Stir in grated ginger, minced garlic, and slit green chili; cook for 2 minutes.
  5. Add diced bell pepper and sauté for another 3-4 minutes until slightly tender.
  6. Mix in the turmeric powder, coriander powder, and salt; stir well.
  7. Pour in the pureed tomato and cook for about 5 minutes until the oil begins to separate.
  8. Add the prawns to the mixture and cook for 5-7 minutes or until they turn pink and opaque.
  9. Add garam masala, mix gently, and let it simmer for another 2 minutes.
  10. Garnish with chopped fresh coriander before serving.
