Ingredients

  • Prawns - 300 grams, deveined
  • Bell pepper (capsicum) - 1 medium, diced
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Tomato - 2 medium, pureed
  • Ginger-garlic paste - 1 tablespoon
  • Kadai masala - 1 tablespoon
  • Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt - to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves - a handful, chopped
  • Lemon - 1, for garnish

Steps

  1. Heat oil in a kadai or deep pan over medium heat.
  2. Add finely chopped onions and sauté until they turn translucent.
  3. Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Add the pureed tomatoes, red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, and salt. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the oil separates from the mixture.
  5. Stir in the diced bell pepper and cook for another 3-4 minutes until slightly softened.
  6. Add the prawns and mix well. Cook for about 5-6 minutes until the prawns turn pink and are cooked through.
  7. Sprinkle the kadai masala and garam masala over the prawns, mixing well to combine. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  8. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with lemon wedges.
