- Chickpeas - 200 grams (soaked overnight and boiled)
- Onion - 1 medium (finely chopped)

- Ginger - 1 teaspoon (grated)
- Garlic - 1 teaspoon (minced)
- Green chili - 1 (slit)
- Capsicum (Bell Pepper) - 1/2 medium (finely chopped)
- Cumin seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
- Red chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Oil - 2 tablespoons
- Fresh coriander leaves - for garnish
Steps
- Heat oil in a kadai or deep pan over medium heat.
- Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
- Stir in the grated ginger, minced garlic, and slit green chili; cook for another minute.
- Add the chopped capsicum and sauté for 2-3 minutes until it softens.
- Mix in the tomato puree and cook until the oil separates from the mixture.
- Add coriander powder, cumin powder, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt; mix well.
- Incorporate the boiled chickpeas, stir to coat them in the spices, and add a little water if needed for desired consistency.
- Cover and simmer for 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
- Finish with garam masala and stir well.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
