Ingredients
- Chickpeas (cooked) - 400 grams
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Tomato - 1 large, pureed
- Ginger-garlic paste - 1 tablespoon
- Green chili - 1, slit
- Capsicum (bell pepper) - 1 small, chopped
- Oil - 2 tablespoons
- Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Garam masala - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves - for garnish
Steps
- Heat oil in a kadai or deep pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add the finely chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
- Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and slit green chili, cooking for another minute until fragrant.
- Add the pureed tomato, turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook until the oil separates from the mixture, about 5-7 minutes.
- Mix in the chopped capsicum and cooked chickpeas, stirring well to coat with the spices.
- Add a splash of water if the mixture is too thick, cover, and simmer for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Sprinkle garam masala on top, stir well, and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or Indian bread.
