Ingredients

  • Chicken breast - 300 grams, cubed
  • Yogurt - 100 grams
  • Ginger-garlic paste - 1 tablespoon
  • Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Garam masala - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Bell pepper - 1 medium, chopped
  • Tomato - 1 medium, pureed
  • Fresh coriander - a handful, chopped
  • Green chilies - 1, slit
  • Kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves) - 1 teaspoon

Steps

  1. In a bowl, mix yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, cumin powder, salt, and lemon juice. Add the chicken cubes and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the marinated chicken and cook until golden brown and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, add the remaining oil and sauté the chopped onion until translucent. Add the chopped bell pepper and cook for another 3-4 minutes.
  4. Stir in the pureed tomato and cook until the oil separates, about 5-6 minutes. Add the slit green chilies and kasuri methi, mixing well.
  5. Return the cooked chicken to the pan and mix thoroughly with the masala. Cook for another 2-3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  6. Finish with chopped fresh coriander and serve hot.
