Ingredients

  • Chicken, boneless - 400 grams
  • Onion, finely chopped - 1 medium (150 grams)
  • Tomato, pureed - 1 medium (100 grams)
  • Bell pepper, diced - 1 medium (100 grams)
  • Ginger-garlic paste - 1 tablespoon
  • Garam masala - 1 teaspoon
  • Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Cooking oil (preferably mustard or vegetable oil) - 2 tablespoons
  • Fresh coriander leaves, chopped - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt - to taste

Steps

  1. Heat the cooking oil in a kadai or deep pan over medium heat.
  2. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  3. Add finely chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
  4. Stir in ginger-garlic paste and sauté for another 1-2 minutes until the raw smell disappears.
  5. Add the pureed tomato and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the oil separates.
  6. Incorporate red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, and salt. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
  7. Add the diced chicken pieces, mix well, and cook for 5-7 minutes until they start to change color.
  8. Add the garam masala and diced bell pepper, mix well, and cover the pan. Cook for another 10-12 minutes on low heat until the chicken is fully cooked.
  9. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with gluten-free rice or gluten-free flatbread.
