Ingredients

  • Chicken breast - 300 grams, diced
  • Bell peppers (red and green) - 100 grams, sliced
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Tomato - 1 medium, pureed
  • Ginger-garlic paste - 1 tablespoon
  • Kadai masala (or garam masala) - 2 teaspoons
  • Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon (adjust to taste)
  • Salt - to taste
  • Cilantro - for garnish, chopped
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Water - 100 ml

Steps

  1. Heat olive oil in a kadai or wok over medium heat.
  2. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  3. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté until translucent.
  4. Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for another minute until fragrant.
  5. Add the diced chicken pieces and cook until they turn white.
  6. Mix in the turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt; cook for 2-3 minutes.
  7. Add the pureed tomato and cook until the oil separates from the mixture.
  8. Add the sliced bell peppers and water; cover and let it simmer for 10-12 minutes until the chicken is cooked through.
  9. Sprinkle the kadai masala over the dish, mix well, and cook for another 2 minutes.
  10. Garnish with chopped cilantro before serving.
