Ingredients
- Whole wheat flour - 100 grams
- Ghee or coconut oil - 2 tablespoons
- Water - 50 ml (for dough)
- Chopped dates - 50 grams
- Grated coconut - 30 grams
- Cardamom powder - 1/4 teaspoon
- Chopped nuts (almonds, cashews) - 20 grams
- Honey or maple syrup - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - a pinch
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour, a pinch of salt, and ghee or coconut oil. Mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually add water and knead into a smooth dough. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, mix chopped dates, grated coconut, cardamom powder, chopped nuts, and honey or maple syrup to create the sweet filling.
- Divide the dough into equal portions (about 4) and roll each portion into a small ball.
- Flatten each ball into a small disc and place a spoonful of the sweet filling in the center. Carefully fold and seal the edges to form a small pouch.
- Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat. Once hot, gently slide in the kachoris and fry until they are golden brown on both sides.
- Remove and drain on paper towels to absorb excess oil. Serve warm.
