Ingredients

  • Whole wheat flour - 100 grams
  • Ghee or coconut oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Water - 50 ml (for dough)
  • Chopped dates - 50 grams
  • Grated coconut - 30 grams
  • Cardamom powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Chopped nuts (almonds, cashews) - 20 grams
  • Honey or maple syrup - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - a pinch

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour, a pinch of salt, and ghee or coconut oil. Mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Gradually add water and knead into a smooth dough. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix chopped dates, grated coconut, cardamom powder, chopped nuts, and honey or maple syrup to create the sweet filling.
  4. Divide the dough into equal portions (about 4) and roll each portion into a small ball.
  5. Flatten each ball into a small disc and place a spoonful of the sweet filling in the center. Carefully fold and seal the edges to form a small pouch.
  6. Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat. Once hot, gently slide in the kachoris and fry until they are golden brown on both sides.
  7. Remove and drain on paper towels to absorb excess oil. Serve warm.
