Ingredients
- Jowar flour - 1 cup (150g)
- Warm water - 1/2 cup (120ml)
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Ghee or oil - for cooking
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the jowar flour and salt.
- Gradually add warm water to the flour mixture, kneading it into a soft and pliable dough.
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 10-15 minutes.
- Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and shape them into balls.
- On a clean, flat surface, use a rolling pin to roll each ball into a flat disc about 6 inches in diameter. If the dough sticks, dust with a little extra jowar flour.
- Heat a tava or non-stick skillet over medium heat.
- Once hot, place the rolled roti on the tava and cook for about 1-2 minutes until small bubbles appear.
- Flip the roti and cook for another minute, then use a spatula to gently press down on the edges to help it puff up.
- Remove the roti from the tava and brush with ghee or oil, if desired.
- Repeat the process for the remaining dough balls and serve warm with your favorite curry or chutney.
