Ingredients
- Octopus - 500 grams
- Lemon juice - 30 ml
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Red chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- Fresh mint leaves - 1/4 cup
- Fresh coriander leaves - 1/4 cup
- Green chili - 1, chopped
- Water - 2 tablespoons
Steps
- Clean the octopus thoroughly under cold water and remove the beak and ink sac if needed.
- In a bowl, combine lemon juice, olive oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt, and black pepper to create a marinade.
- Add the cleaned octopus to the marinade, ensuring it is well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to penetrate.
- While the octopus is marinating, prepare the mint-coriander chutney by blending fresh mint leaves, coriander leaves, chopped green chili, and water until smooth. Adjust salt to taste.
- Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
- Remove the octopus from the marinade and shake off any excess. Grill the octopus for about 3-4 minutes on each side, until charred and tender.
- Once cooked, remove the octopus from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing.
- Serve the grilled octopus hot with the mint-coriander chutney on the side.
