Ingredients
- fish fillets (preferably pomfret or mackerel) - 300 grams
- lime juice - 1 tablespoon
- ginger-garlic paste - 1 teaspoon
- red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
- turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- salt - to taste
- fresh cilantro (coriander leaves) - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- bread crumbs - 1/2 cup
- egg - 1, beaten
- burger buns - 2
- coconut chutney - 4 tablespoons
- sliced cucumber - 1/2
- sliced onion - 1 small
- lettuce leaves - 2
Steps
- In a bowl, marinate the fish fillets with lime juice, ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, and salt. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
- After marination, steam the fish for about 5-7 minutes until cooked through. Allow it to cool slightly before flaking it into a bowl.
- Add the chopped cilantro, bread crumbs, and beaten egg to the flaked fish. Mix well to form a mixture that can hold together. If too wet, add more bread crumbs.
- Shape the mixture into two patties.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a little oil. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
- Toast the burger buns lightly in the same skillet until golden.
- Assemble the burgers by spreading coconut chutney on the bottom half of the bun, placing a fish patty on top, and adding sliced cucumber, onion, and lettuce. Top with the other half of the bun.
- Serve immediately with extra chutney on the side.
