Ingredients
- Gram flour (besan) - 100 grams
- Yogurt - 100 grams
- Water - 300 ml
- Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
- Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Oil - 2 tablespoons
- Fresh coriander leaves - for garnish
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine gram flour, 1/2 teaspoon salt, turmeric powder, and enough water to form a smooth, pliable dough.
- Divide the dough into equal portions and roll each into cylindrical shapes (about 1/2 inch thick).
- In a pot, bring water to a boil and add the rolled dumplings. Cook them for about 10-12 minutes until they float to the surface.
- Remove the dumplings, let them cool slightly, and then cut them into bite-sized pieces.
- In a pan, heat oil over medium heat, add mustard seeds and cumin seeds, and let them splutter.
- Add the yogurt gradually, stirring continuously to prevent curdling, then add red chili powder, garam masala, and salt to taste.
- Add the cut dumplings into the yogurt mixture and simmer for about 10 minutes, allowing them to absorb the flavors.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.
