- Mustard seeds - 2 teaspoons

- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 inch, grated
- Tomato - 1 medium, pureed
- Coconut milk - 200 ml
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Green chilies - 1, slit
- Fresh cilantro - a handful, chopped
- Salt - to taste
- Oil (preferably mustard oil) - 2 tablespoons
- Water - 100 ml
Steps
- Heat the mustard oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the mustard seeds and let them splutter.
- Add the chopped onion and sauté until it turns golden brown.
- Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the pureed tomato, turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and salt. Cook for about 5 minutes until the oil separates from the mixture.
- Pour in the coconut milk and water, stirring well to combine. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
- Add the fish fillets and green chilies to the pan, cover, and cook for 10-12 minutes until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily.
- Garnish with chopped cilantro before serving. Serve hot with steamed rice or flatbreads.
