- Water - 500 ml
- Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
- Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
- Garlic - 1 tablespoon, minced
- Tomato - 1 medium, chopped
- Green chili - 1, slit
- Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves - a handful, chopped
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Oil - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- Heat the oil in a pot over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add the chopped onion and sauté until it turns golden brown.
- Stir in the grated ginger, minced garlic, and slit green chili. Cook for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the chopped tomato and cook until it softens, about 5 minutes.
- Sprinkle in the coriander powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Stir well to combine.
- Pour in the water and bring it to a boil. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
- Add the fish fillet to the pot and cook for 8-10 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily.
- Stir in the garam masala and lemon juice. Adjust seasoning if necessary.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
