Ingredients
- Fish fillets (e.g., cod or tilapia) - 250 grams
- Besan (gram flour) - 100 grams
- Rice flour - 50 grams
- Ginger-garlic paste - 1 tablespoon
- Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - to taste
- Water - as needed
- Bread buns - 2
- Lettuce leaves - 2
- Sliced tomatoes - 1
- Sliced onions - 1 small
- Green chutney - for serving
- Oil - for frying
Steps
- In a bowl, mix besan, rice flour, ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, lemon juice, and salt to create a thick batter. Gradually add water until the batter coats the back of a spoon.
- Pat the fish fillets dry and dip each one into the batter, ensuring they are well-coated.
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Carefully place the battered fish fillets in the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes on each side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Toast the bread buns lightly on the same pan or a griddle until golden.
- Assemble the burger by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by the fried fish fillet, sliced tomatoes, and onions. Add a generous dollop of green chutney, then top with the other half of the bun.
- Serve immediately with extra chutney on the side.
