Ingredients

  • Elk ground meat - 250 grams
  • Green onion - 2 stalks, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 1 clove, minced
  • Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Egg - 1, beaten
  • Cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Smoked paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Sea salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Avocado - 1, sliced
  • Tomato - 1, sliced
  • Lettuce leaves - 4 large
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon (for cooking)

Steps

  1. In a large bowl, combine the elk ground meat, green onion, garlic, cilantro, beaten egg, cumin, smoked paprika, sea salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  2. Divide the meat mixture into 2 equal portions and shape each portion into a burger patty, about 1.5 cm thick.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the burger patties and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 70°C (160°F).
  4. While the burgers are cooking, prepare the toppings. Slice the avocado and tomato, and rinse the lettuce leaves.
  5. Once the burgers are done, assemble them by placing each patty on a lettuce leaf, topped with slices of avocado and tomato. You can add additional cilantro for garnish if desired.
  6. Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious elk burgers!
