Ingredients

  • For Dumplings:
  • All-purpose flour - 200 grams
  • Water - 100 ml
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Spinach - 100 grams, finely chopped
  • Cottage cheese (paneer) - 100 grams, crumbled
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Cumin powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • For Curry:
  • Oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Tomato - 1 medium, pureed
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, minced
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Coconut milk - 200 ml
  • Salt - to taste
  • Fresh coriander - for garnish

Steps

  1. In a bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, salt, and water to form a smooth dough. Cover and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, combine the chopped spinach, crumbled cottage cheese, grated ginger, and cumin powder. Mix well and set aside.
  3. Divide the dough into small balls (about 10 pieces). Roll each ball into a small circle, place a spoonful of the spinach mixture in the center, and fold the dough over to seal the dumpling.
  4. Prepare a steamer and steam the dumplings for about 15 minutes until cooked through. Set aside.
  5. In a pan, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
  6. Add the minced garlic and ginger, cooking for another minute until fragrant.
  7. Stir in the pureed tomato, turmeric powder, coriander powder, and salt. Cook until the oil separates from the mixture.
  8. Add the coconut milk and bring the mixture to a simmer. Stir in the garam masala and adjust salt to taste.
  9. Gently add the steamed dumplings to the curry and let them simmer for 5 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  10. Serve hot, garnished with fresh coriander.
