Ingredients
- All-purpose flour - 150 grams
- Water - 75 ml
- Potatoes - 200 grams
- Peas - 50 grams (frozen or fresh)
- Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
- Green chili - 1 small, finely chopped
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Oil - 1 tablespoon (for tempering)
Steps
- Boil the potatoes until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain and let them cool.
- In a mixing bowl, mash the boiled potatoes. Add the peas, cumin seeds, coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, chopped green chili, salt, and cilantro. Mix well to combine.
- In a separate bowl, mix the all-purpose flour with a pinch of salt. Gradually add water and knead until you form a smooth dough. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 10 minutes.
- Divide the dough into equal portions (about 6-8 pieces). Roll each piece into a small ball and flatten it to form a small disc.
- Place a spoonful of the potato filling in the center of each disc. Fold the edges over the filling and pinch to seal, forming a dumpling.
- Prepare a steamer by boiling water. Place the dumplings in the steamer basket, ensuring they are not touching each other. Steam for about 10-12 minutes.
- In a small pan, heat the oil and add a few cumin seeds. Once they splutter, drizzle the tempered oil over the steamed dumplings before serving.
