- Chicken thighs - 400 grams, boneless and skinless
- Yogurt - 120 grams
- Ginger-garlic paste - 1 tablespoon
- Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Garam masala - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - to taste
- Cooking oil - 2 tablespoons
- Onion - 1 medium, thinly sliced
- Green chilies - 2, slit
- Water - 100 ml
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, cumin powder, coriander powder, lemon juice, and salt. Mix well to form a marinade.
- Add the chicken thighs to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (or overnight for best results).
- Heat oil in a heavy-bottomed pan over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
- Add the marinated chicken to the pan along with the slit green chilies. Sauté for 5-7 minutes until the chicken is browned.
- Pour in the water, cover the pan with a tight lid, and reduce the heat to low. Cook for 25-30 minutes, allowing the chicken to steam in its juices.
- Once cooked, uncover and sprinkle chopped cilantro on top. Serve hot with naan or rice.
