- Garlic - 1 tablespoon, minced
- Green chilies - 1, finely chopped
- Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Bread crumbs - 1/4 cup
- Oil - for shallow frying
- Burger buns - 2
- Lettuce leaves - 2
- Tomato - 1, sliced
- Onion - 1 small, sliced
- Mint chutney - 2 tablespoons
- Yogurt - 2 tablespoons (optional)
Steps
- Boil the potatoes in salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain and let them cool.
- Once the potatoes are cool, peel and mash them in a bowl.
- Add chopped onion, ginger, garlic, green chilies, cilantro, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and salt to the mashed potatoes. Mix well until combined.
- Form the mixture into two equal-sized patties. Coat each patty with bread crumbs for added texture.
- Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Shallow fry the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
- While the patties are frying, prepare the burger buns by lightly toasting them in another pan or oven.
- To assemble the burgers, place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by a potato patty, sliced tomato, onion, and a dollop of mint chutney. If desired, add yogurt on top.
- Cover with the top half of the bun and serve hot with your choice of side.
