Ingredients
- Full-fat milk - 500 ml
- Unsweetened condensed milk - 100 g
- Cardamom powder - 1/2 tsp
- Ghee (clarified butter) - 1 tbsp
- Chopped nuts (almonds and pistachios) - 2 tbsp
- Honey - 1 tbsp
- Saffron strands - a pinch
- Salt - a pinch
Steps
- In a heavy-bottomed pan, bring the full-fat milk to a boil over medium heat, stirring frequently to prevent burning.
- Once it comes to a boil, reduce the heat and let it simmer until it reduces to about half its volume, stirring occasionally (approximately 15-20 minutes).
- Add the unsweetened condensed milk, and mix well. Continue to cook for another 5-7 minutes, stirring continuously.
- Add the ghee, cardamom powder, honey, saffron strands, and a pinch of salt. Mix well and cook until the mixture thickens and starts to leave the sides of the pan (about 5 minutes).
- Remove the mixture from heat and let it cool slightly. Once it is cool enough to handle, grease your hands with a little ghee.
- Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into small round balls or discs (peda).
- Garnish each peda with chopped nuts and let them cool completely before serving.
